Tanya & Dave’s coastal retreat

The third house reno this season was a family-size challenge. With 15 rooms to renovate, Tanya & Dave’s two-storey home in Perth was the biggest reno so far. But the teams rolled up their sleeves and converted their period home from the 1940s into a modern, relaxed, free-flowing coastal home – perfect for a family of six (including their 2-year-old Kelpie Max) – in just seven days. Join us on a tour of this life-changing home reveal.

Dining room by Tamara & Rhys
Their lighting choice: Our Habitat pendant
The verdict: Tamara and Rhys created a warm, welcoming and modern space while ticking off three of the house rules. They liberally layered with textures of rattan and timber with their choice of furniture, delivered white and dusty tones with their colour palette and infused the natural, coastal vibe with their simple yet classy styling. The grand timber table was the statement piece and it was set off beautifully by our Habitat pendant in white weave.

Kitchen by Laith & George
Their lighting choice: Our Herman pendants
The verdict: Tanya was head over heels in love with the kitchen, her domain. The boys understood that having a big kitchen was very important for the family, so they gave Tanya three ovens and included a massive kitchen island! They topped the island with a pair of our Herman pendants made from natural materials – perfect for that natural, coastal vibe.

Stairs and landing by Laith & George
Their lighting choice: Our Makani pendant and Shore table lamp
The verdict: Tanya and Dave were stoked by their transformed stairs and landing and felt that all the design elements were accurately used to produce a gorgeous Hamptons style coastal ambience. Our Makani handmade macramé pendant was the grand statement piece which delivered the natural look on the landing and highlighted the gorgeous period ceiling features. Our Shore table lamp in tan rattan ticked off the ‘texture with rattan’ house rule and blended flawlessly into the coastal interior.

Mudroom by Kimmy & Rhi
Their lighting choice: Our Koralky chandelier and Disk wall light
The verdict: This mudroom has got to be the airiest and brightest mudroom in all of Perth! The twins installed eight skylights to bring in as much daylight as possible and topped this space with our splendid 8-light Koralky chandelier. Featuring thousands of wooden beads in a whitewash finish, the Koralky gives this vast space a luxurious yet organic, coastal feel. Also, don’t miss our Disk wooden light casting a soft, gorgeous glow on the wall.

Study by Lenore & Bradley
Their lighting choice: Our Byron pendant and Smith table lamp
The verdict: The couple were blown away by their beautiful combined study and Dave didn’t mind that it ended up being a sewing haven for Tanya. They were impressed by their individual rattan cupboards and their individual Smith table lamps with built-in USB charging ports. So convenient in a study! The hero of the room was our Byron pendant featuring a natural woven design and a hemp cord suspension – just what you need to nail that coastal, natural look!
