The Block Recap: Bedroom Room Reveal

Fans Find Their Feet in Bedroom Week

After another challenging week, the faves finally conceded their winning streak to the newcomers. And the outcome continued to be full of surprises with the boys falling from first place to bottom of the design ladder.

Kara & Kyle

The fans finally scored a room win with Kara & Kyle taking out top spot for their guest bedroom. We loved how this dynamic duo mastered the art of Scandinavian design, which is renowned for its sophistication and restrained colour palette. The key to styling a classic look such as timber and white is to accent the neutral tones with pops of bright colour. The white pendants as bedside lighting are another key trend. Not only do they look great, they also leave bedside tables free for Darren’s suggested styling touches such as books and plants. Check out our  Lennox 1 Light Small Pendant in our Scandinavian range for a similar look.

Chantelle & Steve

The underdogs of the series upped their game this week coming in just one point behind the winners. Their handcrafted parquetry wall was breathtaking and set the style for the rest of the room. Scandinavian touches again made their way into their design, which was an interesting combination of Aztec and Art Deco. Their bedside table lamps were reminiscent of our Parker 1 Light Squat Table Lamp, an opulent design that gives any room a high-end look.  Highlighting their beautiful handmade ceiling cornice was our Lumina One Light Large Bell Pendant in Black, which will create a stunning shadow effect on the ceiling.

Alisa & Lysandra

The twins certainly got the judges fired up this week with their bold design choices. While Neale Whitaker loved the mixture of raw textures and colours, Shaynna felt the overall effect was too overwhelming. The choice of lighting was equally divisive, and the jury is still out with our team whether or not their quirky wall lights did such a stylish room justice. Considering they were placed against a white wall, perhaps a timber pendant such as our Stockholm 1 Light Cone Pendant would have been a more inspired choice.

We did however love the inclusion of our Typhoon Ceiling Fan in Brushed Chrome. From the renowned Hunter Pacific family, the Typhoon features superior quality stainless steel blades designed to circulate optimal airflow with every spin.

Brad & Dale

Unfortunately overconfidence burst the boys’ bubble this week, but we do admire their brave colour choices. The ‘gelato’ room, as we’ve dubbed it, was very bright and cheerful, which offered a surprising contradiction to the industrial loft style of the apartments. Our Create 1 Light pendants with their exposed Karbon globes were true to the industrial style, but in such a busy room were a little lost. A better choice to complement the dark wardrobes would have been our Mechanics 1 Light Cage Pendant in Black.
